The content in the workbooks were effective because it provided various different activities and students were gaining understanding, but I believe a teacher can teach in so many other ways that do not in With this being my first year of college I was really nervous.
I thought I was not confident enough to handle the subject. Since my first language is not English writing in English became one of my biggest fears. Writing in English has always been a demanding task for me but I knew it was one of the most important subjects to apply higher education A lot of what I learned in high school was completely different than that of my college English course.
Over the course of this semester our class worked on several different types of essays which include scholarly discourse, discourse community analysis, a persuasive paper, and finally a critical reflective essay. After almost completing the course, I feel like I have grown to become a more prepared writer because of all of the useful information that I have learned Boy, was it true. I was afraid of going to college, especially afraid to take college English.
This is my first semester in college and I knew I was taking a risk by enrolling into the online version of college English. My college advisor advised me of how intensive the workload is compared to the class done in the classroom. Nevertheless, I put on my big girl pants and enrolled. Though the class was tough, I learned so much than I thought was possible My conclusion, I will consider any plan of action which I need to improve my skills in speaking in front of a large audience or any offer in the future The NORM is a non-mobile, older, male from the countryside, or a rural area, to fit the acronym.
However, the language variants of the NORMs all over a country are definitely not the standard. Great differences in speech can seen in opposing social classes, age groups, living areas and sexes, whereas the Joe Average is just a middle class, city dwelling male and not the answer to all linguistic questions At the age of eight, I was a child who loved reading and writing, and at the age of eighteen, I was a first-year student at State College who decided to major in English. I am now a senior in college thinking about that fact literally sends a strange mixture of frightened, yet excited shivers charging through my body and a very different person than that nervous first-year student I used to be I decided to continue learning Chinese in my higher education because it is a very useful and important language for international business and communication.
My degrees in Elementary Education and Chinese Teaching are very helpful for me in the field of education because they will give me the opportunity to be an elementary Chinese teacher for native English speakers.
I believe that as a foreign language teacher, I will be most effective and competent in the classroom by providing the students with a supportive atmosphere, incorporating relevant tasks, and motivating the chil I naively believed that I already knew everything that I could possibly learn in such a course. You might imagine, then, the frustration and resignation I felt when I learned that the aforementioned test scores would not in fact exempt me from taking ENGL When I entered College for the first time, I wanted to know how it feels to have to think critically, and to be an independent student.
Including a description of a few of my chosen topics, any kind of material I have used for the transfer of this offer , and the way I applied sudden efforts as well as the experience, knowledge and feedback gained throughout the presentation. What I have found is that the class revolves around the process and individual steps it takes to compose a well written essay necessary to succeed in the class.
Aside from succeeding in English , it also teaches students how to excel in their other classes and in their future profession. The initial question I had that was answered by the readings was what exactly is composition. All the papers that were assigned to me this semester reached the five course goals that were assigned at the beginning of this semester. Goal 1-Compose for particular audiences and purposes When I first started this semester I never knew that I had to think about particular audiences and purposes for each essay that I had to write.
This course really helped me reach this goal and to make sure I always think about the audiences for each topic that I write. In my three essays that I wrote this semester it was important to make sure I always thought about a certain audience that I would pertain my essay to.
In my review, I attempted to connect to people who are teenagers and college students that love going to a bar and who enjoy bar food. While in my profile I wrote towards people who have someone in their life that is a role model and someone they look up to.
Essay 1 is more persuasive and understandable now that I revised it, but still leaving it to be my weakest essay compared to Essay 3. Essay 3 I feel is my strongest essay because I was really arguing and trying to persuade my reader to understand my thesis.
I had the most interest in this essay because I really understood the reading and I felt I can persuade a lot easier. I believe that through this class, I have gained many knowledge and confidence.
During all the semester I learned how to write projects for different audiences, purpose and genre. After that, I have learned how to find and properly incorporate different sources into my projects. Through the course of this class I wrote three different projects I was worried about if my time management and the whole English aspect was going to work.
English is not my best subject and is one I struggle with. Although as time went by I enjoyed an abundant amount of assignments that were assigned. A place that you have worked, or work now. Your grandparents' house or the house of a neighbor or friend. A bookstore or coffee shop. Your car, a bus, subway, ferry, or train. Or maybe your bike or skateboard.
An amusement park. A playground, ballpark, or another place you've played sports. A skating or ice skating rink. Your favorite restaurant, or a restaurant where you had a memorable experience.
A vacation spot that you remember in particular. Where you work or a place where you do work at home, like an office or garage. Your online spaces like social media sites, web pages, or blogs.

Sometimes, it can be very helpful to reflect on an event that happens regularly like a birthday to think about that event's meaning in your life. On the other hand, once-in-a-lifetime events like a special vacation or a wedding can also be turning points which make good essays.
Patrick's Day. I had a hard time finding articles to go with essays two and three. I think this is something I need more practice with because I know I will have more research papers due in the future.
My final goal was to conform to the grammar, punctuation, and spelling rules of standard written English with a minimum of errors. The grammatical errors in my essays decreased one by one. I think practicing grammar on worksheets helped me a lot, and I will continue to do it. There are three writing skills I wanted to gain from this class. The first skill was essay organization and development. In essay one I had a problem with organizing paragraphs three and four.Being the first, it was probably 101 semester I would learn the most in. I learned the expectations for writing that I will have to live up to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing essays college has still? Also, isc computer practical paper 2001 pdf writer high school, reflective would have weeks to pick a topic, create a thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper Although I had indicated an awareness of the interrelationship of speaking and listening, essay and writing WritingI did not conduct in depth analysis that considers these elements specifically with the process of learning.
I would have loved to observe more interesting and intriguing activities for students to learn the concepts.
Some strengths I can identify in my own writing is that I am good at making sure that I give the reader a handful of visual aid while reading Because of the persuasion I used, I feel Essay number 3 was my strongest essay, leaving Essay number 1 the weakest.
